Constance Newman, lovingly known as “Connie as “Connie”, was born in Louisiana but grew up in the Bay Area of California. From Richmond to the Model City of Milpitas, Connie’s family was the first African American family to purchase a home in the city. Connie graduated from Samuel Ayer High School and later San Jose State University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice/Law Enforcement. During her professional career, she served the City of San Jose as a Reserve Police Matron, Santa Clara County as a Deputy Sheriff, and the state of California as a correctional officer stationed at Soledad State Prison. Connie is the mother of two daughters, grandmother of 12 and great grandmother of 6.
